This is the Official Blog of the Vanderpool for Kentucky Campaign. Mr. Matthew Vanderpool is currently running for the Kentucky House of Representatives in House District 45 (Lexington, KY). With his "Democracy Starts With You," campaign, Mr. Vanderpool hopes to unseat incumbent Stan Lee (R-Lexington) to bring much need change and reform to both the citizens of Lexington and our entire Commonwealth.

Matthew Vanderpool receives Women's Netowrk endorsement

I want to thank The Women's Network for their endorsement of the Vanderpool for Kentucky Campaign.

"The Women’s Network, Advocates for Democratic Principles, is dedicated to the achievement of a society that is both free and fair, embracing the Four Freedoms set forth by Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Core Principles of the Democratic Party."

"Educate, Motivate, Advocate, Activate. The Network seeks to recapture and promote the principles that historically have distinguished the Democratic Party as the party that reflects true American MORAL VALUES. It is the Party of inclusion and diversity that uses the word "compassion" honestly, ensures a safety net for those who are not able to help themselves, and pays attention to the needs of working men and women and their families. Historically, the Democratic Party has been the party of prosperity for the vast body of citizens, rather than the few."

Thanks again for your support!

Campaign contribution problems

Thank you to everyone who made a contribution using Google Check-Out. We used Google Check-Out because of low fees, and to be honest, at the time, no one except Casey Kurtis and I had made any online donations.

Today, Google Check-Out informed us: "You may only use Google Checkout to accept political contributions if you're a federal candidate or political action committee (PAC) based in the United States, are registered with the Federal Elections Commission."

This was not what they told us when we signed-up.  They have changed their policy, so now we must find another merchant.

We have now switched to PayPal (click on the icon to donate):

You may also mail donations to the following address:

Vanderpool for Kentucky
Attn:  Treasurer
PO Box 910584
Lexington, KY 40591

Currently Mr. Vanderpool is the Treasurer, but the campaign plans on retaining a CPA in the Commonwealth to be the official Treasurer before the end of the month.

Again, we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Mr. Vanderpool and I knocked on many doors, dropped off campaign materials at many locations, as did Zachary Dreyer, Paul Hughes, and Tim Muncy.  Our personal thanks also to Casey Kurtis and to everyone who donated their time and energy for Kentucky's next Representative in House District 45!

In service,

Jordan Palmer, Campaign Manager

Vanderpool wins and says "thank you" to Lexington!

Before I begin, I would like to personally thank everyone who made winning the primary possible. I would like to thank my friends and family who have been my guiding light through the campaign process. I would also like to thank all the campaign staff that sacrificed their own time and lives day in and day out, the voters that stood up for what they believe in and entrusted me with the task of hopefully representing them come November, and of course all of my loyal supporters who have been there since day one, pushing me to strive for greatness.

Above all else, I would like to thank my mom, Judy Kovacs. Without her support, her love and her determination to help me see my dream through I simply would not be here. She has been the driving force behind me the entire way, and she is as much of this campaign as anyone. Mom, you know how much I love you and how much of this campaign is because of you and you alone, thank you.

This campaign started as an idea over ten months ago and quickly became a dream and then my passion. This campaign has never been about me. This victory in the primary is for all my supporters out there who spread the word about our campaign, for all the people out there that truly believe that democracy does start with them, for all the people out there that have dreams that they want to accomplish and never give up on hope, and for all the people out there that doubted that this primary win was even possible.

The road before us is going to a tough and trying one. We are going up against one of the most notorious incumbents in Kentucky, Stan Lee. This will not be an easy task, for me, my staff, and my supporters. I assure you that with your continued support, your dedication and your drive for a better tomorrow, a better Kentucky, we no longer will have to fear “the Stache”.

Together and only together can we make a difference? I am but one man, one man with the desire, the dream and the drive to better the lives of all Kentuckians. Our state motto has always been “United We Stand, Divided We Fall”. So I ask you, as a fellow Kentuckian, a fellow American… Will you stand with me united for a better tomorrow? This generation and future generations are depending on us to act and no longer talk about our problems, but actually find the solutions that we have so desperately sought after.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words of support over the past couple of days. All of you have a very special place in my heart and no matter where this road leads us; I will never forget what you have given me. This is our chance, our shot to not only better ourselves, but also better the world in which we live. What we want is just on the horizon, we will get there… Let’s get to work.

In service to the Commonwealth,

Matthew Vanderpool
